A Servant’s Reminder

From Abu Hurairah (RA), the Prophet PBUH said:

مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ وَمَا زَادَ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا بعَفْوٍ إِلَّا عِزًّا وَمَا تَوَاضَعَ أَحَدٌ لِلَّهِ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ

“Charity does not decrease wealth. The servant who shows forgiveness, is awarded with dignity. And the one who shows humility, Allah grants him nobility.”

– Muslim

  1. Assalamu alaykum w.w.

“The servant who is shown Allah’s mercy, is awarded with dignity”

i think this should rather be read as no one forgives (his brother) except that his honour will be increased…..
    could you kindly verify

    Jazakallah

    Req ur pious duas

    Waslmz

  2. Salaam,

Thank you brother for pointing that out. Post edited.

For further sharing, here’s a translation of the same hadith from USC’s database:

“Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Charity does not in any way decrease the wealth and the servant who forgives Allah adds to his respect, and the one who shows humility Allah elevates him in the estimation (of the people).”
